Yvonne: The research groups should think about, what we want to do with this course – and decide on a upper number of students we want to teach. We need to remember that it is research courses. It should be advanced classes seen in the perspective of thesis preparation and the master thesis.
Paolo: What is the minimum before the course get cancelled?

As part of the project working on new evaluation scheme, Yvonne presents the proposal that the teacher evaluation is only qualitative. it should be considered if this is a disadvantage for teachers. Question: Is qualitative evaluations only okay? Or do you want quantative? (to use in applications).

Second semester: Students have to choose a specialization. 7,5 (in 2. Semester, followed by a 15 ECTS course in 3. Semester)
Third semester: 15 ECTS socialization in third semester
We have 7 specialization – each specialization consist of a 7,5 ECTS and a 15 ECTS course. The students can have 4 first specializations in 2. Semester. Ergo: they can delay their final choise of 15 ECTS specialization until before their 3. Semester/summer 19.
When we deduct expected dropout we expect 70 people to reach the second semester.
Problem: 60/70 students will have to choose among 7 specializations = 10 students on average per 15 ECTS course.
Peter: I am not so worried in a department economy perspective, but it means that teachers have to teach a large course besides the small specialization course.
Yvonne: The great thing is that we can have a process with the students - beneficial for their master thesis.
    Marco: What to do?
    Marcos proposal:
    Free competition (and course cancelling)
N/7 spots per 15 ECTS couse

Paolo: What is the minimum before the course get cancelled?
Peter: It should be up to the teacher. We don’t have a process saying we cannot have a course with only two students.
Marco: The idea is to change the learning format of the course.
Peter and Marco answer questions in relation to the intention and restraints behind the study structure (staveplade).

Since there is not many VIP today – Yvonne will send out a mail/spreadsheet.
Marco: Can you use quotes in applications? Instead of numbers.
Paolo: What is the rationale? Dropping half of the evaluation does not solve the problem with the evaluations.
Yvonne: The idea is that the different evaluations focusses on different subjects. It is not dropping half of the evaluation – it is another kind of evaluation.
Jens: Evaluation – the numbers are problematic, so we don’t want numbers?
Yvonne: It is a way to split up the evaluations.
Yvonne writes a mail/ gives a presentation about it at the department meeting in august.
