    1. ITU Pulse is not replacing APV - the workplace assessment will be as always.
We can hire one PhD student with ITU money - if we want to hire more, they have to be co-financed by external funding.
Culture night: there will be a prize for best student project.
You can use the open house event to collect data.
Think about whether you have something to contribute to present to the public.
We will find representatives from the dept. to plan the culture night end August.
    2. In general IT programmes country wide got more applicants.
    3. Students (master's) from EU will be accepted - outside EU is less likely to get approved.
    4. We've in the past had too many students supervised by PT lecturers - that's why there's a new procedure.
    5. Now it looks like there will be 8 specialisations in Fall 2019 - this is a bit much (a lot of teaching) although we will be more faculty. Perhaps we can join a couple of the specialisations.
Kasper: it can also be a good opportunity for the students to get a more personal relationship with their teachers.
Thore: I think it is unsustainable - too many things to do and it requires to many resources from many people. We need a bunch of PhD's and postdocs. There's also an enormous administrative hurdle.
If we put a ceiling on how many students can be accepted on each specialisation, some students might be forced to take a course they don't want.
    6. Thore - status on computer science course for other programmes: everything is on schedule.
Is there a call out for someone to teach this?
Peter: not specifically for this course but we have three calls out from where we expect to find someone. Hopefully we can select interviewees in September.
Peter: A task force is looking into whether we should strengthen the teaching in security at ITU - they will make recommendations to management.

Excellent news about applications to BSc programs: ITU first-priority applications up 39 % over last year, whereas all education programs countrywide are down 4 % over last year; 313 first-priority applicants to BSc software development (for 140 places); 122 first-priority applicants to BSc data science (for 50 places). Also, great news about the admitted students: BSWU grade cutoff 8.5, DS grade cutoff 8.0, better gender distribution. Now it's our job to make sure they learn as much as possible (and in particular that they do not drop out, since in that case they don't learn much).
